Udhayvir Grewal: Precision Oncology Shows Promise in Rare Pancreatic Acinar Cell Carcinoma

Udhayvir Grewal, GI oncologist at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, highlighted on X a new co-authored article examining precision oncology approaches for pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma (PACC).

The article, titled “Precision oncology promise in the management of pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma,” notes that PACC is rare—accounting for less than 2% of pancreatic cancers—and is biologically distinct from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Emerging evidence indicates benefit from precision therapies, including PARP inhibitors, immune checkpoint inhibitors and targeted agents in genomically selected patients.

The authors advocate for routine broad molecular and germline testing to identify actionable alterations and improve outcomes in this underserved disease.
