Leah Menshouse Springer Summer Internship

The Leah Menshouse Springer Summer Opportunities Program is a 10-week, full-time paid summer cancer research program at Siteman Cancer Center, Washington University in St. Louis. The program places undergraduate, graduate, and medical students in mentored research projects across basic, clinical, prevention/control, or population science, and includes weekly seminars and facility tours.

Eligibility: current undergraduate, graduate, or medical students (high-school students are not eligible); pursuing or intending to pursue MD, PhD, DO, PharmD, or related doctoral-level training in a cancer-relevant field; all majors and prior experience levels are considered and prior lab experience is not required.

Visa and citizenship: eligible participants are U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, F-1 visa holders through Washington University (including OPT on F-1), or DACA recipients. H-1B, J-1, and TN visa holders are not eligible.

Program details: runs approximately May 26–July 31, 2026, with an expected commitment of about 40 hours per week in an assigned research group. Stipend is USD 7,000 total, paid in two installments at the end of June and the end of July. On-campus summer-rate housing is available at the participant’s expense; travel and housing costs are the responsibility of the participant.
