California Breast Cancer Research Program Community Research Collaboration Pilot Award

The California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP) is accepting applications for the CRC Pilot Award to support the initial phase of community-partnered participatory breast cancer research. The award funds projects that strengthen community–academic collaborations, develop feasible methods and tools, and collect pilot data addressing breast cancer priorities relevant to California communities.

Projects must follow a community-partnered participatory research (CPPR) structure with shared decision-making and shared power, featuring a Community Co-PI and an Academic Co-PI as equal partners. The Community Co-PI should have strong ties to the community of interest. Research must focus on breast cancer, align with CBCRP Priority Issues, be conducted primarily in California, and involve the broader community in project activities and dissemination.

Funding provides up to USD 200,000 in total project direct costs for a maximum project duration of 18 months. Indirect costs are allowed: University of California campuses may claim up to 35% MTDC (25% for off-campus projects); other institutions may claim up to 25% MTDC or a negotiated rate, whichever is higher.

Applications are due March 5, 2026.
