Business Beat: Christus oncology clinic to open this month in Longview – Longview News

Christus Health will open an oncology clinic this month at its NorthPark campus on Hawkins Parkway in Longview.

The opening follows the December launch and blessing of the hospital’s new Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner, which the hospital called a “major milestone” in bringing oncology services to the community. Kurt DeVaney, chief operating officer for Christus Good Shepherd Health System, said the scanner represents a commitment to expanding access to cancer care and will provide a diagnostic service that has been limited locally.

The Christus Cancer Center is under construction at the NorthPark campus and is expected to open this fall. The PET scanner will serve as a cornerstone for the emerging oncology program, enabling physicians to detect, diagnose and monitor cancer with greater precision and speed. Additional oncology technology, clinical staff and support services will be added in the coming months.

Torque Automotive has opened at 2708 W. Marshall Ave. in Longview. The shop was developed by Harnukin Investment Group partners Jody Kindred, Dustin Harris and Wesley Newman, who joined with managing partner Tryston Stewart to run the business. The group bought the building to house their construction company Cerberus and turned excess space into the auto shop.

The business represents a $2.5 million investment and employs about 15 people. Stewart, who has roughly 31 years of experience in automotive repair, will lead operations. Torque Automotive offers a full range of services including engine and transmission work, and plans additional locations in the future.

The shop uses an app to provide electronic updates, photos and live videos of vehicle repairs so customers can review and approve recommended work remotely. The facility includes a customer lounge with a separate, soundproofed play area for children.
