Ruzanna Papyan

Ruzanna Papyan is a pediatric oncologist, academic physician, and clinical researcher specializing in sarcomas, neuroblastoma and adolescent and young adult oncology. She is chief of the Pediatric Oncology Department at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia (PCBDC) at the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center and leads the Musculoskeletal Multidisciplinary Working Group, coordinating care for pediatric bone and soft tissue tumors.

Papyan graduated from Yerevan State Medical University in 2016 and has served on the faculty of its Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology since 2019, holding the rank of assistant professor. She has combined clinical and teaching duties with active involvement in research and clinical trials, and since 2022 has worked as a clinical research physician at the Immune Oncology Research Institute in Yerevan.

Her postgraduate training includes the Postgraduate Cancer Research Program at Harvard Medical School (2019–2021). She is currently pursuing a PhD at Yerevan State Medical University, focusing her doctoral research on soft tissue and bone sarcomas in children and young adults.

Papyan is engaged in international collaboration and education in pediatric oncology. She serves as co-chair of the SIOP Global Health Network Adolescents and Young Adults Working Group and, since 2022, has coordinated educational activities within the Global Neuroblastoma Network, a multidisciplinary tumor board platform supporting clinicians in resource-limited settings. She completed a clinical observership at St. Anna Children’s Hospital in Vienna.

She is an active member of professional societies including SIOP, ESMO, ESO, SOHO, POEM and the Armenian Association of Hematology and Oncology. Papyan regularly participates in national and international conferences and contributes to educational and collaborative initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for children and young adults with cancer.
